Dear {{drawer_name}},
Under instructions from and on behalf of my client {{your_name}}, I hereby serve upon you the following Legal Notice:
1. That my client is the lawful holder of Cheque No. {{cheque_number}} dated {{cheque_date}} for an amount of ₹{{amount}} (Rupees {{amount_in_words}} only), drawn on {{bank_name}}, {{branch_name}} branch, bearing account number ending {{account_last_4}}.
2. That the said cheque was issued by you towards {{purpose_of_cheque}}.
3. That my client presented the said cheque for encashment on {{presentation_date}} through {{client_bank_name}}, but the same was dishonoured/returned unpaid with the endorsement "{{bounce_reason}}" as per the Cheque Return Memo dated {{return_memo_date}}.
4. That the dishonour of the cheque constitutes an offence punishable under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, which provides for imprisonment up to two years, or fine which may extend to twice the amount of the cheque, or both.
5. THEREFORE, in compliance with the proviso to Section 138 of the NI Act, you are hereby called upon to make payment of ₹{{amount}} (Rupees {{amount_in_words}} only) within FIFTEEN (15) DAYS from the date of receipt of this notice.
6. In the event of your failure to make payment within the stipulated period, my client shall be constrained to initiate criminal proceedings against you under Section 138 of the NI Act before the competent Magistrate Court, at your risk, cost, and consequences.
